The Power of Openness: Widening Participation and OER Communities

Open Educational Resources (OER) have achieved a great deal in the 10 years since the concept emerged, open approaches, the free sharing of content and the flexing of the boundaries that gives to students are all now on the agenda (McAndrew and Cropper, 2010). Nonetheless OER retains an aspect of a being a solution looking for a problem; why should changing licences and letting content become more available actually make a difference to learning?
In this section the four chapters in my opinion give some clear indications that there are differences to be made and indeed problems to be solved.
